Job DescriptionWe are seeking an experienced COBOL developer to join our Legacy Systems Team. This team is responsible for modernizing our infrastructure and deployment processes. As a critical member of this team, you will work on automating the implementation and configuration of products for servers, collaborating with team members across multiple functional areas to ensure the development environment and release process meet the needs of the department.
You will be at the forefront of delivering new features to Expeditors' customers and employees, iterating through continuous improvements as the environment evolves. This position is based in the greater Seattle, WA area and requires local candidates or those willing to relocate.
The ideal candidate will have experience supporting legacy COBOL systems in UNIX/Linux-based systems software adapted from HP e3000 systems, adapting or replacing COBOL code to compilers, databases, and intrinsics that are MPE-specific. Additionally, they will utilize available resources to correct or create suitable workarounds, provide helpdesk ticketing and support, document testing and troubleshooting procedures, and research industry solutions for continuous improvement.
