The role of the Vocational Rehabilitation Services Coordinator involves working collaboratively with various departments within the organization as well as external partners to develop and enhance employment and vocational rehabilitation initiatives. Reporting to the Assistant Deputy Commissioner of the Office of Rehabilitation Services, the coordinator is instrumental in overseeing the execution and advancement of diverse programs offered by the City.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Offering consultation and technical support to program staff
  • Monitoring and assessing Workforce Development and vocational rehabilitation services
  • Facilitating partnerships between the City and Workforce Development programs
  • Serving as a liaison between Workforce Development vendors and relevant business entities
  • Providing guidance on policies and procedures pertaining to Workforce Development and vocational rehabilitation

Minimum Qualifications:

1. A Master's degree in a relevant field with two years of professional experience in related areas, including managerial or supervisory roles.

2. A Bachelor's degree with four years of professional experience, including managerial or supervisory responsibilities.

Preferred Skills:

  • Certification as a Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC)
  • Experience in Rehabilitation Counseling, Social Work, or Public Health/Administration

The ideal candidate will possess strong interpersonal and management skills, enabling effective communication with stakeholders at all levels. This position is open to qualified individuals under the 55-a Program.

Prospective employees may qualify for federal loan forgiveness programs and state repayment assistance initiatives. Residency in New York City is typically required within 90 days of appointment, with certain exceptions for long-serving City employees.
