Employment Rehabilitation Specialist

POSITION SUMMARY
The Employment Rehabilitation Specialist plays a crucial role in coordinating and delivering vocational rehabilitation and employment-related services within a supportive residential environment for individuals recovering from substance use disorders. This position involves providing both individual and group counseling, connecting clients with employment and skills training resources, as well as offering guidance on financial management.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Vocational Counseling
- Conduct thorough vocational assessments, including a detailed employment history, educational background, and self-directed evaluations to assess client capabilities.
- Utilize assessment results to collaboratively develop a vocational rehabilitation plan tailored to the client's goals.
- Provide continuous individual and group counseling to assist clients in making informed vocational choices and achieving their objectives.
- Offer follow-up and post-placement support for clients engaged in internships, apprenticeships, or educational activities.
- Deliver financial counseling and budgeting assistance.
- Instruct clients in essential job skills, including interview techniques, resume preparation, and networking strategies.
- Assess clients' educational and work histories to guide them in their next steps toward success.
- Assist clients in selecting appropriate educational programs and securing financial aid.
- Participate in crisis intervention as part of a collaborative team.
- Support residents in managing financial obligations.
- Communicate effectively with the interdisciplinary team regarding clients' vocational aspirations and progress.
- Actively contribute to the interdisciplinary treatment team by participating in case discussions and team meetings.
Referral Services
- Establish and maintain connections with community-based educational, vocational, and support service resources.
- Guide clients to suitable vocational and educational service providers.
- Facilitate referrals to legal services as necessary.
Administrative Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate and concise case records detailing client progress and status; prepare required reports and track relevant statistics.
- Ensure compliance with performance objectives and reporting requirements.
- Communicate employment status to administrative personnel to support compliance with verification processes.
- Monitor clients' adherence to educational and work commitments, reporting any discrepancies to clinical teams.
- Assist clients in obtaining necessary identification documents.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Master's Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling or a related field; CRC certification preferred.
- Minimum one year of experience in career counseling for individuals with substance use disorders.
- Bachelor's degree with five years of experience in a residential setting while pursuing a Master's degree is acceptable.
- Preferred experience in a Residential Therapeutic Community setting.
- Knowledge of strengths-based counseling and cognitive-behavioral treatment methodologies.
- Availability for weekend shifts is required.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and navigate challenging situations with professionalism.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with diverse populations.
- Commitment to maintaining professional boundaries and confidentiality.
- Proficiency in computer applications such as Microsoft Word and Electronic Health Records.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
The role requires regular interaction in a moderately noisy environment, with the ability to work in both open and confined spaces. Physical demands include the ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods, as well as light to moderate lifting.
