Job Summary:

The Commonwealth of Virginia seeks a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer Senior to join our team in Radford. As a key member of our energy management team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to reduce energy consumption and increase energy efficiency across our campus.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct energy audits to identify areas of inefficiency and develop recommendations for improvement
  • Develop and implement energy-saving initiatives, including negotiating energy contracts and educating staff on energy conservation practices
  • Monitor energy usage and costs, and provide regular reports to management
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for energy efficiency and develop solutions
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in energy management

Requirements:

  • Considerable knowledge of mechanical engineering principles and practices
  • Extensive experience with energy management systems, including HVAC, electrical, pneumatic, and digital controls
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with ability to test, evaluate, and troubleshoot complex systems
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong attention to detail and organizational skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with energy management software, including Johnson Controls ADX and Automated Logic Corporation (WebCtrl software)
  • Knowledge of building management systems and energy-efficient technologies
  • Certification in energy management or a related field
