Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Advisor to join our team in Crisis Communication and Issues Management. As a key member of our University Marketing and Communications department, you will be responsible for safeguarding and enhancing our institution's reputation and ability to fulfill its mission.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement proactive and reactive communication strategies to ensure a coordinated and centralized approach to issues management.
  • Provide strategic counsel and craft communication plans and protocols to maintain consistent, high-quality communication with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to maintain a unified crisis response and ensure alignment with our institution's mission and values.
  • Manage relationships with external communications partners, including Public Information Officers, to ensure a unified crisis response.
  • Identify potential risks and vulnerabilities, develop proactive plans, and recommend initiatives to enhance our institution's reputation and build trust.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years in crisis communications, corporate communications, public relations, reputation management, or related fields.
  • Strong belief in truth and transparency as key communication principles.
  • Ability to lead with empathy, emotional intelligence, and patience in high-pressure situations.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree and/or related certifications.
  • Experience working in higher education environment.
Accountabilities
  • Responsible for own work only.
  • The Senior Advisor is also accountable for the work of advisory groups and task forces and the work of external contractors.
Physical Requirements and Environmental Conditions

Sedentary work primarily involving sitting/standing; communicating with others to exchange information; repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands, and/or fingers; and assessing the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned.
