Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a strategic internal communication plan that engages and informs faculty, staff, and students.
  • Collaborate with university leadership to understand the broader strategy and develop effective communication rollouts.
  • Manage the creation and distribution of internal newsletters and other communication channels.
  • Oversee the transformation of the Inside WFU website into a dynamic tool for sharing information and enhancing employee morale.
  • Collaborate with campus communicators and departments to ensure a cohesive and coordinated internal communication framework.
  • Implement tools and metrics to assess the effectiveness of internal communications and provide data-driven insights to leadership.
Requirements
  • 5-7 years of experience in internal communications, with at least two years in a leadership role, preferably within higher education or a large organizational setting.
  • Strong understanding of internal communication strategies, best practices, and the importance of aligning communication with institutional goals.
  • Exceptional writing skills, with the ability to craft clear, compelling, and strategic messages for a diverse university audience.
  • Strong project management skills, with experience in coordinating complex communication rollouts involving multiple stakeholders.
  • Excellent leadership and collaboration skills, with the ability to work closely with university leadership and campus communicators to execute communication strategies effectively.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree and/or related certifications.
  • Experience working in higher education preferred.
Accountabilities
  • Responsible for own work only.
  • Responsible for overseeing the work of advisory groups and task forces and the work of external contractors.
