Patient Access Representative

Job Summary:
The University of Vermont Health Network is seeking a skilled Patient Access Specialist to join our team. As a fundamental part of the patient experience, this role is a key contributor to the financial health of the organization.
The Specialist coordinates scheduling, registration, insurance, and payer eligibility management and financial screening activities to provide an exceptional customer service experience for patients, families, and visitors.
The incumbent navigates complex regulatory requirements while coordinating activities across multiple disparate information systems to support physician and hospital operations while delivering a caring message in a streamlined, transparent, and cohesive process.
The Specialist shall function independently, resolve patient and operational issues, and effectively manage patient financial engagement while facilitating all aspects of the access experience to ensure the UVM Medical Center revenue cycle remains whole.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate scheduling, registration, insurance, and payer eligibility management and financial screening activities
- Navigate complex regulatory requirements
- Coordinate activities across multiple disparate information systems
- Deliver a caring message in a streamlined, transparent, and cohesive process
- Function independently and resolve patient and operational issues
- Effectively manage patient financial engagement
Requirements:
- Associates degree or vocational training in a relevant area
- Minimum of one year of experience in customer service, medical billing, coding, insurance, or authorization, management, scheduling, or work in a health care environment
- Prior experience with medical billing preferred
