Job Title: Patient Access Specialist

Join The University of Vermont Health Network as a Patient Access Specialist in our Emergency Department. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth flow of patients through our emergency department.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate emergent, urgent, transfer, and admission access to the organization via ambulatory and EMS arrival.
  • Ensure patients are educated, supported, and financially managed while in the emergency department.
  • Accurately identify, register, and manage insurance for patients.
  • Perform initial acute screening for ambulatory arrivals and facilitate all financial management functions.
  • Work collaboratively with physicians, nursing, and support staff in a fast-paced and emotionally charged environment.
Requirements:
  • Associates degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum one year's experience in customer service, registration, insurance management, or administrative support in a clinical environment.
  • EMT certification highly preferred.

The ideal candidate will possess excellent verbal communication skills, be able to diffuse angry or emotional customers, and handle pressure in a busy, acute care environment.
