Job Title: Shop Foreman / Diagnostician

Job Overview:

The Shop Foreman / Lead Technician plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of the service department by managing workflow and task allocation among technicians. This position collaborates closely with the Service Manager to guarantee high-quality service on vehicles and optimize shop productivity.

We seek motivated technicians/mechanics who bring energy and a positive mindset to the workplace. Ideal candidates will possess a strong commitment to finding solutions to complex challenges and a genuine passion for providing exceptional service to our customers.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate with the service department to assign tasks to technicians.
  • Oversee individual technician workloads and manage overall workflow within the service area.
  • Guide technician team progress through internal training and assist in preparation for certifications.
  • Provide training and mentorship to new technicians.
  • Assist fellow technicians in diagnosing and repairing vehicles as needed.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations to monitor career goals and technician development.
  • Organize team-building activities for technicians.
  • Educate the technician team on maintaining brand and quality standards to address customer concerns effectively.
  • Manage inventory of shop supplies and equipment.
  • Monitor fluid levels and shop efficiency through technician hours and ticket audits.
  • Oversee subscriptions for diagnostic tools.
  • Assign housekeeping responsibilities to promote safety, cleanliness, and organization.
  • Manage technician schedules and enforce safety protocols.
  • Collaborate with the service department to address customer concerns and assist in resolving complaints.

Qualifications:
  • Master Certified L1 or equivalent certification is required.
  • Expertise in drivability and diagnostic techniques.
  • Experience with electrical systems across various makes and models.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience as an automotive technician/mechanic is required; 20+ years preferred.
  • Willingness to mentor and train team members.
  • Positive attitude and a strong desire to serve customers.
  • Ability to diagnose and repair vehicles of all makes and models.
  • Consistently meet or exceed hourly performance goals.
  • Aptitude for acquiring new skills and processes.
  • Professional demeanor and strong communication skills.
  • A commitment to long-term career growth.

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift and/or move over 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Capable of working with tools on vehicles elevated above head level.
  • Comfortable working in confined spaces as required by vehicle repairs.
  • Dexterity to efficiently use hand tools.
  • Ability to stand or walk for the majority of the workday.
  • Proficient in driving manual transmission vehicles.
  • Skilled in navigating computer systems.
