The Automotive Service Lead is tasked with ensuring optimal workflow and effective task allocation among technicians. This position collaborates closely with the Service Manager to maintain high standards of workmanship on customer vehicles and enhance shop productivity.

We seek skilled technicians who are enthusiastic, positive, and committed to delivering exceptional service. Ideal candidates will demonstrate a proactive approach to problem-solving and a strong dedication to customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate with the service department to assign tasks to technicians
  • Oversee individual technician workloads and overall service area workflow
  • Guide technicians through internal training programs and assist in preparation for certifications
  • Mentor and train new technicians
  • Support fellow technicians in diagnosing and repairing vehicles as needed
  • Conduct regular performance reviews to track career development and technician effectiveness
  • Facilitate team-building initiatives among technicians
  • Educate the technician team on maintaining brand standards and efficiently addressing customer concerns
  • Manage inventory of shop supplies and equipment
  • Monitor fluid levels and shop efficiency through performance reports
  • Oversee subscriptions for diagnostic tools
  • Distribute housekeeping responsibilities to uphold safety and cleanliness standards
  • Manage technician schedules
  • Enforce safety protocols within the shop
  • Collaborate with the service department to address customer feedback and resolve complaints
Qualifications:
  • Master Certified L1 or equivalent certification required
  • Expertise in drivability and diagnostic techniques
  • Experience with electrical systems across various vehicle makes and models
  • A minimum of 10 years as an automotive technician/mechanic; 20+ years preferred
  • Willingness to mentor and train fellow team members
  • Positive demeanor and a commitment to customer service
  • Ability to diagnose and repair a wide range of vehicles
  • Consistently meet or exceed performance goals
  • Aptitude for acquiring new skills and knowledge
  • Professional appearance and strong communication skills
  • Desire for long-term career advancement
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift and/or move items over 50 pounds
  • Capable of working with tools on elevated vehicles
  • Comfortable working in confined spaces as required by vehicle repairs
  • Dexterity to effectively use hand tools
  • Ability to stand or walk for extended periods
  • Proficient in driving manual transmission vehicles
  • Competent in navigating computer systems
