Position Overview:

The Project Manager for Building Automation is tasked with directing and supervising all phases of automation projects, ensuring successful execution from start to finish. This role demands a strategic mindset and extensive knowledge of automation systems, including HVAC, lighting, and security mechanisms. The Project Manager is accountable for delivering projects on schedule, within budgetary constraints, and in alignment with client quality standards.

Core Responsibilities:
  1. Project Strategy and Implementation:
    1. Create detailed project strategies, encompassing timelines, financial plans, and resource distribution.
    2. Collaborate with internal departments, subcontractors, and clients to achieve project milestones.
    3. Oversee the project lifecycle, focusing on scope, budget, timeline, and quality.
  2. Client Engagement:
    1. Act as the main liaison for clients throughout the project duration.
    2. Provide regular updates on project progress, manage client expectations, and resolve any issues or modifications.
    3. Ensure client satisfaction through high-quality deliverables and robust relationship management.
  3. Team Management:
    1. Lead multidisciplinary teams, including engineers, technicians, and subcontractors.
    2. Delegate tasks, track progress, and offer support to team members.
    3. Encourage a cooperative and efficient work atmosphere.
  4. Risk Assessment:
    1. Identify potential challenges and devise strategies to mitigate risks for project success.
    2. Continuously monitor project developments and adapt plans as needed to address risks.
    3. Resolve any issues or barriers encountered during the project lifecycle.
  5. Quality Assurance:
    1. Guarantee that all project outputs comply with industry standards and client specifications.
    2. Conduct routine quality assessments and audits throughout the project.
    3. Implement corrective measures when necessary to uphold project quality.
  6. Financial Oversight:
    1. Track project finances and manage expenditures to ensure completion within budgetary limits.
    2. Authorize spending and oversee resource distribution.
    3. Compile and present financial summaries to stakeholders.
  7. Documentation and Reporting:
    1. Maintain precise and current project documentation, including contracts, amendments, and progress reports.
    2. Prepare and deliver project status updates to senior management and clients.
    3. Ensure proper archiving of all project documentation upon completion.
  8. Regulatory Compliance and Safety:
    1. Ensure all projects adhere to applicable codes, regulations, and safety standards.
    2. Implement and uphold safety measures on all job sites.
    3. Coordinate inspections and secure necessary permits.
Qualifications:
  1. Education:
    1. Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline. Advanced degrees or certifications (PMP, LEED, etc.) are advantageous.
  2. Experience:
    1. At least 3 years of project management experience, ideally in building automation or similar fields.
    2. Demonstrated success in managing intricate projects from conception to completion.
    3. Experience with building automation systems, including HVAC, lighting, and security controls.
  3. Skills:
    1. In-depth knowledge of building automation systems and their integration.
    2. Exceptional leadership and team management capabilities.
    3. Proficient in project management software and tools (e.g., MS Project, Primavera).
    4. Strong analytical skills with a focus on client satisfaction.
    5. Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
    6. Capacity to manage multiple projects concurrently.
    7. Robust financial management skills with experience in budget oversight.
  4. Certifications:
    1. Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent certification is preferred.
    2. LEED certification or other relevant industry certifications are beneficial.
Work Environment:
  1. Primarily office-based with frequent site visits.
  2. Willingness to travel to various project locations as needed.
  3. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage high-pressure situations.
