The Failure Analysis (FA) team plays a crucial role in supporting nearly every hardware product, from initial concept through to field issue resolution.

We are seeking a highly qualified Engineering Manager to oversee the failure analysis laboratory teams in California and Ireland.


Key Responsibilities:

- Guide and mentor teams of skilled failure analysis engineers and managers, providing direction on laboratory strategies and objectives.

- Supervise the examination of products and materials utilizing a diverse range of analytical methods, delving into intricate issues to uncover the root causes of failures.

- Represent the failure analysis team in critical executive review meetings, offering regular updates on significant findings and their implications.

- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including product design, quality assurance, reliability, and operations, to resolve failures and implement corrective measures.

- Drive global laboratory collaboration by partnering with other senior lab managers and failure analysis leaders to set strategic goals and objectives.

- Work in tandem with team leads from other internal laboratories to share and redistribute projects, enhancing overall turnaround times without compromising analysis quality.

- Innovate new failure analysis methodologies and techniques to meet emerging characterization demands while remaining current with the latest analytical technologies and best practices.

- Provide leadership that ensures adherence to all relevant laboratory environmental, health, and safety regulations.


Minimum Qualifications:

- Proven experience in analyzing complex failures in microelectronic products.

- Strong technical foundation with hands-on experience in various failure analysis techniques (e.g., SEM/EDS, X-ray, FIB, TEM, FTIR, etc.).

- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a capacity for data-driven decision-making.

- Ability to interpret complex data sets from multiple sources into a clear and comprehensible format.

- Familiarity with reliability testing methodologies is advantageous.


Compensation and Benefits:

At Apple, base pay is one component of our comprehensive compensation package, determined within a range that allows for growth and development within the role. The base pay range for this position is between $219,300 and $378,700, depending on skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

Apple employees have the opportunity to become shareholders through participation in discretionary employee stock programs and are eligible for restricted stock unit awards, as well as discounts on Apple stock through the Employee Stock Purchase Plan.

Additionally, employees receive benefits such as comprehensive medical and dental coverage, retirement benefits, discounts on products and services, and reimbursement for certain educational expenses related to career advancement.

This role may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses or commission payments, as well as relocation assistance.
