We are currently seeking a Cybersecurity Systems Engineer who possesses a deep understanding of user interface development and can deliver cutting-edge big data solutions to our clients.

The Cybersecurity Systems Engineer will play a vital role in supporting mission-critical applications for law enforcement, ensuring compliance with Authorization to Operate (ATO) requirements. This position involves close collaboration with various stakeholders across the organization, driving the latest security initiatives forward.

Primary Duties

  • Engage with key stakeholders to align security engineering projects with the operational demands of law enforcement.
  • Work alongside technical leads, developers, and system owners to ensure ATO security documentation meets FISMA and NIST standards.
  • Generate security artifacts and documentation to address system security control inquiries.
  • Analyze system security audit logs and implement corrective measures as necessary.
  • Conduct security monitoring and evaluation activities, including audits, control assessments, and generating alerts using tools such as Splunk or Defender for Cloud.
  • Revise technical security documentation and diagrams for mission-critical systems.
  • Maintain a strong awareness of current security trends and technologies, demonstrating innovative thinking on how these advancements can fulfill operational needs and influence future strategies.
Qualifications

Essential Qualifications:

  • At least 8 years of experience with a BS/BA; 6 years with an MS/MA; or 3 years with a PhD (additional 4 years of experience may substitute for a BA).
  • Proven expertise in security systems engineering.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a high-performing technical team and communicate clearly with both business and technical stakeholders.
  • Strong communication skills, with a collaborative approach across various teams.
  • General knowledge of Linux (RHEL7/8) and Windows Server 2019/2022.
  • Experience in creating and validating evidence for NIST security controls.
  • Familiarity with back-end log management tools, including Azure EventHub and Splunk.
  • A strong desire to learn and enhance processes to improve overall security posture.
  • Experience with enterprise security scanning tools such as Tenable, Burp Suite, and Defender for Endpoint.
  • A current/active Top Secret security clearance with SCI eligibility and the capability to obtain a polygraph.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in an Agile environment utilizing project sprints and Azure Boards.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Azure cloud systems and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Certification as a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP).
  • Knowledge of the DOD Information Assurance Certification and Accreditation Process (DIACAP).

Salary Range$135,000 - $216,000. This reflects the typical salary range for this role based on experience and other relevant factors.
