Our team is dedicated to building a sustainable re-use channel by advancing various aspects of the Circular Economy for Amazon Returns & ReCommerce. We comprise diverse teams including business analysts, product managers, operations specialists, software engineers, and data scientists who oversee the lifecycle of returned or damaged products from customers to warehouses and onward to their next best use.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and assess cutting-edge models for Natural Language Processing (NLP), Large Language Models (LLM), and Computer Vision projects.
  • Utilize SQL for data querying and analysis.
  • Employ Python, Jupyter Notebook, and PyTorch for training, testing, and deploying machine learning models.
  • Implement machine learning and analytical techniques to devise scalable solutions for business challenges.
  • Research and apply innovative machine learning and statistical methodologies.
  • Guide junior scientists and interns by providing technical mentorship on their projects.
  • Collaborate closely with data and software engineering teams to integrate successful models and algorithms into large-scale production systems.

About the Team:

When a customer returns a package, our advanced machine learning systems enhance the customer experience, identify root causes of returns, optimize re-use, and evaluate returned items. Our work spans multiple data modalities, including text, categorical, image, and speech data.

We operate at scale, utilizing state-of-the-art modeling techniques to power our machine learning models, including XGBoost, BERT, Vision Transformers, and Large Language Models.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience in developing machine learning models for business applications.
  • PhD or Master's degree with 6+ years of applied research experience.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, C++, or Python.
  • Experience with deep learning methods and machine learning.
  • Familiarity with popular deep learning frameworks like MxNet and TensorFlow.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in developing machine learning models for business applications.
  • Experience in building speech recognition, machine translation, and natural language processing systems.
  • Experience in developing Computer Vision systems.

Our compensation reflects the labor market across various US geographic regions. The base pay for this position ranges from $150,400/year in lower geographic markets to $260,000/year in higher geographic markets, based on factors such as market location and job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company, and depending on the position, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be included as part of a total compensation package, alongside a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits.
