Senior Property Accountant with Partnership Experience
Company Overview:
Staff Financial Group is a leading firm in real estate development and investment, focusing on industrial and logistics properties.
Role Overview:
The Senior Property Accountant will report directly to the Controller, ensuring the precision of financial documentation, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements. This position will also play a key role in generating monthly financial reports for stakeholders, including owners, partners, and lenders.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Manage monthly accounting tasks for investment sections within the company's financial statements, including journal entry processing and supporting documentation creation.
2. Review and validate all investment-related sections of financial statements for accuracy.
3. Monitor project progress from initiation to capitalization, utilizing construction management software to reconcile actual pre-development expenses.
4. Maintain a detailed schedule of earnest money deposits per project, ensuring accurate recording of deposits and reimbursements in the general ledger.
5. Participate in discussions and meetings regarding property transactions and capital contributions with various departments.
6. Collaborate with the Controller to prepare necessary information for monthly and quarterly distributions to investors.
7. Assist the Corporate Accountant with capital contributions, ensuring a comprehensive schedule is maintained.
8. Initiate capital call wire transfers and support the Corporate Accountant with tracking and journal entries.
9. Maintain and audit all Owner Ledgers in Yardi, reviewing them monthly for accuracy.
10. Collaborate with the Controller to record all acquisitions and dispositions.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline from an accredited institution, along with a minimum of 3 years of experience in institutional-level real estate management and investment; or a combination of education, training, and experience that equips the candidate with the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the role.
2. Experience with joint venture partnership ownership structures, including waterfall investor returns.
3. A confident, entrepreneurial, and relationship-driven personality.
4. Strong written, verbal, interpersonal, networking, and presentation skills.
5. Proficient in Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, and Yardi.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge:
Proficient in Microsoft Office and Yardi Voyager.
Understanding of basic commercial real estate concepts, including commercial leasing.
Familiarity with joint venture partnership ownership structures and waterfall investor returns.
Knowledge of market fundamentals such as rents, vacancy rates, and absorption.
Excel modeling capabilities.
Skills:
Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
Ability to meet deadlines and prioritize tasks effectively while maintaining professionalism under pressure.
