Job Overview:


The Senior Investment Accountant will report directly to the Controller, ensuring the precision of financial documents, including the balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow statement.

This position will also contribute to the creation of monthly financial reports for stakeholders, including owners, partners, and lenders.

Key Responsibilities:

Investment Accounting Duties:

  • Implement monthly accounting procedures for the investment components on the company's financial statements, which includes recording journal entries and generating supporting documentation.
  • Review and prepare all investment components on the financial statements for accuracy.
  • Monitor all projects from initiation to capitalization, utilizing construction software to reconcile with actual pre-development expenses.
  • Maintain a record of earnest money deposits by project and ensure accurate recording of deposits and reimbursements in the general ledger.
  • Engage in all discussions and meetings related to property transactions and capital calls with other departments.
  • Collaborate with the Controller to compile all necessary information for monthly and quarterly distributions to investors.
  • Assist the Corporate Accountant with capital contributions, ensuring a detailed schedule is kept.
  • Initiate all capital call wire transfers and support the Corporate Accountant with tracking and journal entries.
  • Maintain and audit all Owner Ledgers in Yardi, reviewing them monthly for accuracy.
  • Work alongside the Controller to record all acquisitions and dispositions.

Required Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline from an accredited institution, and/or a minimum of 3 years of experience in institutional-level real estate management and investment; or any combination of education, training, and experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the role.
  • Experience with joint venture partnership ownership structures, including waterfall investor returns.
  • An entrepreneurial, confident, relationship-oriented, and enthusiastic demeanor.
  • Outstanding written, verbal, interpersonal, networking, and presentation skills.
  • Proficient in PowerPoint, Excel, and Yardi.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Yardi Voyager.
  • Understanding of basic commercial real estate concepts, particularly those related to commercial leasing.
  • Familiarity with joint venture partnership ownership structures and waterfall investor returns.
  • Awareness of market fundamental statistics such as rents, vacancy rates, and absorption.
  • Excel modeling skills.
