Senior Associate Director, Database Management

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Associate Director, Database Management to join our team at Skidmore College. This is a key leadership role that requires a strong background in database management, technical expertise, and excellent communication skills.
Key Responsibilities- Database Management: Oversee the management of advancement databases and department technology, including iModules, web forms, data integration, and transfer of data from student systems, Admissions systems, and NCOA updates.
- System Administration: Manage and set up security permissions, business rules, staff codes, and roles for systems used by the Advancement Division.
- Documentation and Communication: Develop and implement procedures to ensure quality data to support advancement division initiatives and serve as a key liaison for documentation and communication of business rules and processes related to Advancement databases and tied to business workflows.
- Data Security: Manage PCI compliance for the Advancement Division and ensure that constituent information is not compromised.
- Training and Development: Work with the Executive Director of Advancement Operations to identify ongoing staff development needs and training, and develop and implement an orientation program for new employees in the Advancement division.
- Institutional Reporting and Surveys: Responsible for accurate and timely completions of institutional surveys, including VSE/CAE, STAFF, and US News & World Report, and ensure compliance with industry, federal, state, and internal standards.
- Data Analysis and Reporting: Assist in the creation and maintenance of reporting for several Advancement departments and Academic departments, and collaborate in the production of financial, analytical, statistical, biographic, and demographic reports.
- Gift Processing Procedures: Manage the gift processing team and ensure compliance with best practices for gift processing and fundraising regulations.
- New Implementations: Offer guidance on new systems and implement new initiatives in support of Advancement's mission.
- Special Projects: Work on projects related to advancement systems and all advancement databases, supporting new initiatives and campaign management and reporting from the Advancement Operations perspective.
- Bachelor's degree required or commensurate work experience leading technical teams, managing databases, and in a client-focused environment.
- 8-10 plus years of working in an educational environment preferred.
- Broad experience and proficiency with computer systems and relational databases.
- Direct experience working with databases and an appreciation and understanding of the importance of data in the context of business rules and reporting.
- Direct and significant experience working with Raisers Edge, Omatic, PowerBI, and a working knowledge of SQL.
- Ability to balance multiple priorities and projects in a deadline-driven environment.
- Commitment to accuracy and attention to detail.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience managing technical staff and a commitment to professional development of employees.
- Proficient using MS office applications, especially Excel and Word.
- Ability to quickly adapt and learn new software platforms and train others to learn and adopt new tools and related processes.
- Strong problem-solving, organization, and collaboration skills.
- Demonstrated positive leadership skills.
- Must be customer service-oriented.
- Broad understanding and appreciation for fundraising/advancement work.
