FlexIT Global is in search of a talented and driven Controls Engineer to enhance our client's operations on a full-time and permanent basis. In this role, you will be tasked with the design, implementation, and maintenance of control systems across a diverse range of electrical projects.


Your specialized knowledge will be crucial in ensuring the effective and secure functioning of electrical systems and machinery.


Key Responsibilities
  • Work collaboratively with project managers, electrical engineers, and clients to ascertain project needs and goals.
  • Design and create control systems and automation solutions that meet project requirements.
  • Select suitable hardware components, sensors, and actuators for system integration.
  • Develop control algorithms and logic utilizing PLC programming languages, ladder logic, and other pertinent languages.
  • Integrate control systems with electrical equipment, ensuring smooth communication and interaction among components.
  • Configure and program Human-Machine Interfaces (HMIs) to deliver user-friendly control and monitoring interfaces.
  • Create simulation environments to evaluate control system functionality and performance.
  • Conduct comprehensive testing and validation of control systems, addressing any issues or bugs that may arise.
  • Optimize control strategies for enhanced system efficiency and reliability.
  • Diagnose and resolve technical challenges related to control system operation, software bugs, and hardware failures.
  • Perform routine maintenance and updates to control systems to guarantee consistent performance.
  • Generate detailed documentation including system designs, wiring diagrams, programming code, and operational manuals.
  • Provide clear and concise reports to project stakeholders regarding system performance, troubleshooting steps, and enhancements.
  • Ensure compliance of control systems with electrical safety standards, regulations, and codes.
  • Implement safety features and emergency shutdown protocols to safeguard personnel and equipment.
  • Collaborate closely with the electrical engineering team to seamlessly integrate control solutions with electrical systems.
  • Communicate effectively with project teams, clients, and other stakeholders to provide updates and address concerns.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline is required.
  • Proficiency in PLC programming languages, ladder logic, and HMI programming.
  • Strong understanding of electrical circuits, sensors, and actuators.
  • Experience in troubleshooting control systems and resolving technical challenges.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills for articulating technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Familiarity with electrical safety standards and regulations.
  • Project management skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience.
  • Knowledge of industrial communication protocols (e.g., Modbus, Ethernet/IP).

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to navigate uneven terrain and climb ladders.
  • Must be capable of regularly lifting and/or moving up to 35 lbs.
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods while using tools and perform repetitive actions that involve frequent bending and stooping.
