Patient Service Coordinator

The Patient Service Representative is the first point of contact for our patients entering the building. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring our patient experience is truly one-of-a-kind; offering incredible customer service at all times.
Key Responsibilities- Verify appointment and insurance information, and enter registration details into our electronic medical record system.
- Perform registration procedures for new and follow-up patients, obtaining necessary demographic, insurance, and payment information.
- Collect copays, balance the cash drawer, and log weekly/monthly totals.
- Collect past due monies due to Excelsior Orthopaedics Group.
- Verify insurance three days prior to patient appointments to ensure eligibility.
- Remain flexible in work assignments as patient numbers vary and doctor schedules change.
- Act as a liaison between patients and the billing department regarding billing issues.
- Pull registrations through the patient portal.
- Apply knowledge of medical terminology, specifically orthopedic terminology.
- Proficiency in electronic medical record and practice management computer programs.
- Associate's degree preferred; high school diploma or equivalent required.
- 2+ years of medical office experience; patient registration experience desired.
- EMR experience required; MEDENT preferred.
- Manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination to enter data and operate office equipment.
- Corrected vision and hearing within normal range to observe and communicate with patients, providers, and staff.
- Frequently remaining in a stationary position, often sitting for prolonged periods working on a computer, telephone, copy/fax machine, and other office equipment.
- Occasional standing and walking required.
- Occasional lifting and carrying items weighing up to 10 pounds.
