Position OverviewThe Histology Technician I is responsible for performing critical tasks within the histology laboratory in accordance with established protocols.
This role includes executing frozen section procedures for Mohs micrographic surgery, involving the precise cutting of tissue into ultra-thin slices, with techniques tailored to the specific tissue type.
Additionally, the technician will conduct routine, specialized, and immunohistochemical staining procedures.
Preparation of tissue specimens for both standard and specialized processing is essential, with the technician selecting the appropriate protocols based on physician directives.
Preferred candidates will have at least one year of laboratory experience (student experience is acceptable).
Educational BackgroundAn Associate's degree along with completion of an accredited histology technician program or a similar training course is preferred.
Certification RequirementsPreferred certification includes ASCP (American Society for Clinical Pathology) Registry.
