Position OverviewThe Histology Technician I is responsible for executing vital tasks within the histology laboratory in accordance with established protocols.
This role includes performing frozen section procedures for Mohs micrographic surgery, involving the cutting of tissue into ultra-thin slices while adapting techniques based on the specific tissue type.
Additionally, the technician will conduct routine, specialized, and immunohistochemical staining processes.
Preparation of tissue samples for both standard and specialized processing is essential, ensuring the correct protocols are selected based on physician directives.
Preferred candidates will have at least one year of laboratory experience (student experience is acceptable).
Educational BackgroundAn Associate's degree along with completion of an accredited histology technician program or a relevant training course is preferred.
Certification RequirementsPreferred certification includes ASCP (American Society for Clinical Pathology) Registry.
