As a Senior Operations Manager for United Academy at United Rentals, you will oversee operations to guarantee that UA clients receive the highest quality and most uniform experience. You will direct UA team initiatives aimed at enhancing sales and minimizing operational costs, while ensuring the UA operations team executes with optimal efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
Sales and Marketing
- Implement the comprehensive sales and marketing strategy for United Academy.
- Collaborate with the Director of UA to formulate and execute the overarching plan.
- Engage with marketing and advertising agencies for the creation of promotional materials and digital marketing initiatives.
- Lead the creation of advertising campaigns and establish partnerships with industry associations such as the American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE), National Safety Council (NSA), and various construction-specific trade organizations.
- Foster relationships with these organizations to uncover mutual opportunities aimed at driving sales for United Academy and enhancing brand visibility.
- Oversee the development and delivery of training resources for national and strategic account managers, as well as outside and inside sales representatives.
- Support the sales team by collaborating with the United Academy RPDMs group to promote the Academy through national, strategic, and key accounts.
Customer Experience
- Work closely with regional teams to ensure consistent standards are upheld, leading to a uniform customer experience.
- Drive initiatives to collect customer feedback and utilize it for continuous business improvement based on defined performance metrics.
- Identify and implement strategies to gather customer insights, ensuring that academy offerings align with actual customer needs.
Growth and Profitability
- Accountable for achieving growth and overall profitability for the entire UA business in line with established annual business objectives.
- Oversee financial performance across regional teams, optimizing operational costs.
Focus on Operational Excellence
- Develop and spearhead the implementation of a management system aimed at achieving excellence in service quality.
- Guide the business in meeting annual Key Performance Indicators (KPI) improvement targets and maintain a reporting system to monitor and communicate performance.
- Design and execute operational strategies for enhanced process optimization.
- Direct reports will include Safety Training Managers, with dotted line oversight of full-time regional safety trainers.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree preferred or equivalent experience.
- Strong analytical, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills are essential.
- Ability to thrive in a team/matrix reporting environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Advanced Excel and PowerPoint.
- Excellent presentation skills; comfortable presenting to senior management and diverse audiences.
- Capability to coach, motivate, and influence others towards action.
- Prior management experience is required.
- Willingness to travel up to 40% is necessary.
