Senior Forensic Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Forensic Engineer to join our team at Charles Taylor. As a key member of our Engineering and Construction Practice, you will be responsible for conducting forensic field investigations, analyzing data, and providing expert testimony in construction defect, premises liability, and storm damage assessment cases.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform independent and project management duties related to structural assessments, design compliance reports, notice of claim reports, and building envelope investigations.
  • Conduct in-depth analysis of single-family residences, residential developments, and commercial properties to identify causes of damage or defects.
  • Lead teams of 5-10 active projects, coordinating tasks, providing client support, and educating team members.
  • Prepare scopes for remediation and design documents for repair of existing structures.
  • Review information to investigate standards of care pertaining to various participants involved in building projects.
  • Communicate technical ideas and conditions to a varied audience, both in industry vocabulary and laymen's terms.
  • Prepare clear, concise, and accurate reports, and provide deposition, mediation, arbitration, and trial testimony as required.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Civil Engineering (with a Structural emphasis) or Architectural Engineering from an ABET accredited school.
  • Five to ten years of experience in structural engineering and construction administration.
  • Professional Engineer or Structural Engineer license in one or more states.
  • Working knowledge of engineering design and analysis, including experience as a structural engineer or architectural engineer.
  • Direct background and experience with residential and/or commercial building forensic engineering addressing structural, building envelope, and civil/grading and drainage assessments.
