Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Supporting the Sous Chef with various tasks, including:
    • Preparing ingredients for diverse functions (such as chopping vegetables, butchering meat, or creating sauces).
    • Cooking menu items collaboratively with the kitchen team.
    • Following and reporting to the Executive Chef/Sous Chef's directives.
  • Ensuring the kitchen is thoroughly cleaned and sanitized at the end of each shift.
  • Properly wrapping, labeling, and dating leftover food.
  • Maintaining inventory accurately, adhering to FIFO (First In, First Out) principles.
  • Documenting temperatures of all refrigerators and freezers every four hours.
  • Recording temperatures of hot and cold foods during events.
  • Monitoring the temperatures of hot holding units before, during, and after events.
  • Guaranteeing that food is served simultaneously, maintaining high quality and timeliness.
  • Adhering to nutrition and sanitation regulations and safety standards.
  • Fostering a positive and professional demeanor with coworkers and customers.
  • Tasting and inspecting all prepared foods to uphold the highest quality standards.
  • Encouraging teamwork and synergy between front and back of house staff through effective communication and respect.
Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated cooking experience, including roles as a line chef, banquet cook, or prep cook.
  • Strong understanding of various cooking techniques, ingredients, equipment, and procedures.
  • Ability to execute tasks with accuracy and speed.
  • Familiarity with industry best practices.
  • Availability for a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, and evenings.
  • Solid kitchen knowledge and proficient knife skills.
  • Team-oriented mindset, willing to assist in any kitchen role.
  • Reliable transportation is essential.
Customer Service Focus

Health and Safety Compliance

Ensuring adherence to all local and state health and safety regulations.

Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in kitchen production.
Skills and Abilities
  • Capability to read and interpret recipes and prep lists.
  • Ability to understand safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Basic knife skills are required.
Physical Requirements

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this role. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.

Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs. occasionally and up to 50 lbs. (minimal). Must be capable of reaching overhead, standing for extended periods, occasional squatting, frequent bending, and performing repetitive motions such as chopping, stirring, and mixing. Must be able to endure frequent exposure to temperature variations and various environmental factors, including cold, heat, steam, smoke, slippery floors, and food waste areas.

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to move throughout the facility, stand for long hours during events, and communicate effectively. This role may require work both inside and outside of the building, depending on event needs.
