Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Supporting the Sous Chef with various tasks such as:
    • Preparing ingredients for events (including chopping vegetables, butchering meat, and making sauces).
    • Cooking menu items collaboratively with the kitchen team.
    • Following the directives of the Executive Chef/Sous Chef diligently.
  • Ensuring the kitchen is cleaned and sanitized thoroughly at the end of each shift.
  • Properly wrapping, labeling, and dating leftover food items.
  • Managing inventory effectively, adhering to FIFO (First In, First Out) principles.
  • Monitoring and documenting temperatures of all refrigeration units every four hours.
  • Recording temperatures of hot and cold foods during events.
  • Checking and documenting the temperatures of hot holding units before, during, and after events.
  • Guaranteeing that food is served simultaneously, maintaining high quality and timeliness.
  • Adhering to nutrition and sanitation regulations and safety standards.
  • Maintaining a positive and professional demeanor with colleagues and customers.
  • Tasting and inspecting all prepared dishes to uphold quality standards.
  • Fostering teamwork and communication between front and back of house staff.
Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated cooking experience, including roles as a line chef, banquet cook, or prep cook.
  • Strong understanding of diverse cooking techniques, ingredients, equipment, and procedures.
  • Ability to execute tasks with accuracy and efficiency.
  • Familiarity with industry best practices.
  • Availability for a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, and evenings.
  • Proficient kitchen knowledge and knife skills.
  • Team-oriented mindset with a willingness to perform various kitchen tasks.
  • Reliable transportation is essential.
Customer Service Focus

Health and Safety Compliance

Ensuring adherence to all local and state health and safety regulations.

Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in kitchen production.
Skills and Abilities
  • Capability to read and interpret recipes and preparation lists.
  • Ability to understand safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Basic knife skills are required.
Physical Requirements

Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs. occasionally and up to 50 lbs. minimally. Must be capable of reaching overhead, standing for extended periods, occasional squatting, frequent bending, and performing repetitive motions such as chopping, stirring, and mixing. Must withstand frequent exposure to temperature variations and various environmental conditions, including cold, heat, steam, smoke, slippery surfaces, and food waste areas.

While fulfilling the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to navigate the facility, stand for long hours during events, and communicate effectively. This role may involve work both indoors and outdoors as required by events.
