The University of California College of the Law, San Francisco is on the lookout for candidates interested in fulfilling the role of seasonal/on-call examination supervisors during designated exam periods.

Multiple positions are available. Examination supervisors are tasked with overseeing students during assessments and ensuring the security and integrity of the examination process.

Examinations at UC Law occur once per term. The midterm and final assessments for the Fall term typically take place in late November to mid-December, while the Spring term assessments are scheduled for late April to mid-May. The summer term has a shorter examination period in mid-August. Each exam period spans approximately three weeks, with the summer term lasting only a few days. Exam schedules may vary, including morning (8 AM to afternoon) or afternoon (12:30 PM to late afternoon) shifts, Monday through Friday. Each shift can last between 4 to 8 hours, with breaks provided.

The starting hourly compensation is $20.22/hour.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Participate in mandatory training sessions prior to each examination period (compensation is provided for training). These sessions are held approximately one week before the exam period.
  • Follow directives from the Registrar's Office:
  • Verify approved materials before each examination.
  • Manage the check-in process for all students entering the examination room by confirming identity with authorized photo identification.
  • Safeguard all examination materials during assessments.
  • Clearly communicate examination instructions to students in a professional manner.
  • Distribute, collect, and account for all examination materials.
  • Monitor students throughout the assessments to ensure a secure testing environment and to deter academic dishonesty.
  • Report any irregularities to the Registrar's Office.
  • Quietly circulate around the room during assessments to observe student conduct.
  • Track examination time and provide warnings to students as the time limit approaches.
  • Check all students out of the examination room at the end of the assessment period.
  • Complete a Proctor Report following the conclusion of the assessments.
  • Adhere to established examination policies and procedures as outlined by the Registrar's Office.

Qualifications:

  • Ability to comprehend and follow both oral and written instructions.
  • Capacity to read and interpret written instructions and procedures and apply them effectively.
  • Ability to stand and walk around a room at intervals, navigate stairs, and manage multi-level classrooms.
  • Capability to lift and carry examination materials weighing up to twenty (20) pounds or push a cart.
  • Proficient in enunciating, speaking clearly, and projecting in front of groups.

Experience: Prior experience working with diverse populations in an academic setting is preferred. Experience in examination supervision is a plus. Excellent verbal communication skills and the ability to read clearly aloud are essential.
