UC Law SF is looking for individuals to fill seasonal/on-call roles as examination supervisors during designated exam periods.

Multiple positions are available. Examination supervisors are tasked with overseeing students during assessments and ensuring the security and integrity of the examination process.

Exams at UC Law occur once each term, typically in late November to mid-December for the Fall term, late April to mid-May for the Spring term, and mid-August for the summer term. Each exam period lasts approximately three weeks, with the summer term being shorter. Exam schedules vary, including morning and afternoon shifts, Monday through Friday, with each shift lasting between 4 to 8 hours, including breaks.

The starting hourly compensation is $20.22/hour.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Attend mandatory training sessions prior to each examination period (compensation provided for training). These sessions are held about a week before the exam period.
  • Follow directives from the Registrar's Office:
  • Verify approved materials before each exam.
  • Manage the check-in process for students entering the examination room by confirming identity with valid photo identification.
  • Ensure the security of all examination materials during assessments.
  • Communicate examination instructions to students clearly and professionally.
  • Distribute, collect, and account for all examination materials.
  • Monitor students throughout the assessments to maintain a secure testing environment and prevent academic dishonesty.
  • Report any irregularities to the Registrar's Office.
  • Circulate quietly around the room during exams to observe student conduct.
  • Track exam time and provide warnings to students as time limits approach.
  • Check all students out of the examination room at the end of the exam period.
  • Complete a Proctor Report following the conclusion of the exams.
  • Adhere to established examination policies and procedures as outlined by the Registrar's Office.

Qualifications:

  • Ability to comprehend and follow both oral and written instructions.
  • Capability to read and interpret written guidelines and apply them effectively.
  • Physical ability to stand and walk around a room periodically, navigate stairs, and access multi-level classrooms.
  • Capacity to lift and carry examination materials weighing up to twenty (20) pounds or push a cart.
  • Effective verbal communication skills, including the ability to speak clearly and project in front of groups.

Experience: Previous experience working with diverse populations in an academic setting is preferred. Experience in exam proctoring is advantageous. Strong verbal communication skills and the ability to read aloud clearly are essential.
