Role Summary:
Under general supervision, this position is responsible for overseeing custodial operations within public facilities. The incumbent will guide a team of custodial staff, ensuring high standards of cleanliness and service.
Key Responsibilities:
In this role, you will:
- Lead and manage a sizable team of custodial personnel engaged in cleaning and maintenance activities across various public facilities.
- Design, implement, and assess training programs for both new hires and existing custodial supervisors.
- Monitor and evaluate staff performance, including attendance and conduct, and provide constructive feedback and recommendations for improvement.
- Establish and revise operational standards, policies, and procedures by regularly inspecting the quality of custodial services.
- Maintain accurate records of personnel, attendance, and leave, and prepare related reports.
- Ensure adequate staffing levels by assessing personnel needs.
- Prepare written documentation, including reports and correspondence, regarding custodial operations.
- Engage with the public and collaborate with other departments to address custodial service needs.
- Travel to various job sites to oversee custodial performance and ensure compliance with standards.
- Contribute to the preparation of the annual budget for custodial services.
- Perform additional duties as necessary.
Work Environment:
This position requires physical stamina, involving light to moderate lifting and moving of equipment and furniture. Flexibility in scheduling, including potential weekend and holiday shifts, may be necessary.
Qualifications:
To qualify, candidates must possess:
- A minimum of two (2) years of verified experience in a supervisory role overseeing custodial staff, equivalent to City class 2718; or
- Three (3) years of verified experience in a custodial supervisory capacity, equivalent to City class 2716.
Additionally:
- A valid driver's license is required.
