SUMMARY:

This role is a full-time exempt position dedicated to supporting the ARNG Mission Command Training Support Program (MCTSP), Mission Training Complexes (MTCs), and various DOD installations. The Aviation/G3 Air Subject Matter Expert (SME) will instruct, mentor, and guide ARNG Division and Brigade Commanders along with their staff in the management, coordination, integration, and regulation of aviation assets, both manned and unmanned, within the framework of Joint Multi-Domain Operations (JMDO) and Decisive Action Training Environment (DATE).

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serve as the AGA representative within the Movement and Maneuver Warfighting Function (WFF) and act as the principal AGA staff member for Higher Command (HICOM).
  • Instruct and coach the AGA in planning, coordinating, and evaluating aviation offensive, defensive, and support requirements, ensuring effective airspace management operations across various functional and integrating cells.
  • Guide the AGA in establishing airspace control for users within their designated airspace, overseeing aviation plans and the integration of Airspace Command and Control (AC2) for all division manned aircraft and Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) operations.
  • Support the AGA in the planning, coordination, and synchronization of rotary-wing aircraft and UAS operations that assist division and other supported units.
  • Assist the AGA in the leadership, management, and development of all personnel involved in aviation operations, airspace management, and air mission request processing.
  • Facilitate regular coordination with subordinate Brigade S3 Aviation Officers and other division staff to ensure the synchronization of all aviation operations.
  • Participate in key HICOM meetings, boards, and working groups that influence training unit Mission Command C2 processes, including Battlefield Update Briefings and Commander's Update Briefings.
  • Contribute to the preparation and delivery of daily Air Tasking Orders (ATO), Operational Summaries (OPSUMS), and various Operations Plans and Orders (OPLANS and OPORDS).
  • Generate and distribute all Joint Exercise Lifecycle (JELC) products in both analog and digital formats using appropriate Command and Control Information Systems (C2IS).
  • Coordinate and manage HICOM augmenters provided by the training unit's State JFHQ or sister units.
  • Prepare and engage in informal and formal exercise After Action Reviews.
  • Integrate AGA into the comprehensive 'road-to-war' scenario, including higher headquarters TACSOPS, PSOPS, and KM SOPS.
  • Assist in developing a Master Scenario Events List (MSEL) for non-simulation supported training objectives.
  • Support pre-exercise staff exercises (STAFFEX) in training Commanders and Staff on various operational processes and Command Post operations.
  • Ensure all JELC related products are prepared to facilitate an immersive training experience within a Joint Multi-Domain Operational Environment.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A minimum of twenty (20) years of experience in the Army (active, reserve, or National Guard) and at least two (2) years in exercise planning using the JELC process.
  • Extensive senior Army leadership experience in training management and Combat Training Center operations.
  • Proven service as a Division G3 Air or Corps/JTF Air.
  • Preferred experience in commanding at the Aviation Battalion level (Brigade level command is a plus).
  • Expertise in large-scale live and constructive exercises, with a strong understanding of Army Command and Control Information Systems.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

A Master's degree (MS or MA) is required, with a preference for graduates of a military Senior Service College.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance and meet other eligibility criteria for access to classified information.
