Position Overview

We are in search of a highly skilled program manager with extensive hands-on experience in managing and executing prototype projects focused on autonomy. The successful candidate will be responsible for steering autonomy-centered initiatives from conception through implementation, technical delivery, and the transition of state-of-the-art commercial technologies. A solid background in supporting programs related to autonomous systems and associated technologies is essential. This role will involve collaboration with both internal and external technical teams, Department of Defense (DoD) leaders, recognized technical experts, and military personnel to devise coordinated strategies for addressing unique challenges faced by the DoD.

  • Provide expert knowledge to support prototype initiatives related to autonomous systems and associated technologies, including cybersecurity, human systems, and AI/ML.
  • Identify DoD challenges that could be addressed through commercial autonomous solutions and lead the problem curation process with stakeholders.
  • Engage in outreach and collaboration with commercial vendors, industry partners, academia, and recognized technical experts.
  • Utilize knowledge of relevant DoD technology acquisition and research services to develop timely transition strategies.
  • Apply a technical background in defense systems to support the development and execution of multiple projects across various portfolios.
  • Comprehend how military services prioritize technology development and translate that into actionable strategies for the private sector.
  • Manage relationships between DoD clients and commercial entities to ensure successful program execution.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 8 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree, or 6 years with a Master's or advanced degree in a scientific or engineering field (Electrical Engineering, Physics, Computer Science). A business degree with relevant experience may also be considered.
  • At least 5 years of experience in research and program support for defense, intelligence, national security, or diplomatic missions.
  • Proven experience in supporting prototype projects related to autonomous systems and technologies such as cybersecurity, human systems, and AI/ML.
  • Strong understanding of how private industry and the DoD can collaborate to address technical capability gaps.
  • Experience in rapid-needs assessment processes and a demonstrated ability to translate problems into fielded systems.
  • Proven capability to lead diverse project teams and provide comprehensive status reports and briefings to stakeholders.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills are essential.
  • Demonstrated integrity and professionalism.

Desired:

  • Previous military experience that enables the candidate to define requirements and curate problems with military end users.
  • Experience in leading collaborative teams between government and commercial vendors to efficiently deliver project milestones.
