Position Overview
We are in search of a skilled program manager with a strong technical background and extensive hands-on experience in managing and executing prototype projects. This role will focus on overseeing projects centered around autonomy, guiding them from strategic planning through implementation, technical delivery, and the transition of state-of-the-art commercial technologies. A proven track record in supporting programs related to autonomous systems and associated technologies is essential. The successful candidate will work closely with both internal and external technical teams, Department of Defense (DoD) leaders, recognized experts, and military personnel to devise coordinated strategies for addressing unique challenges faced by the DoD.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead collaborative teams in the design, execution, and management of projects aimed at integrating innovative commercial solutions to address DoD challenges.
- Provide expert guidance to support prototype initiatives related to autonomous systems and other technologies, including cybersecurity, human systems, and AI/ML.
- Identify DoD challenges that can be addressed through commercial autonomous solutions and facilitate problem curation processes with stakeholders.
- Engage in outreach and collaboration with commercial vendors, industry partners, academia, and other relevant entities.
- Utilize knowledge of DoD technology acquisition and research services to develop timely transition strategies.
- Apply a technical background in defense systems to support the development and execution of multiple projects across various portfolios.
- Understand the technology priorities of military services and translate them into actionable strategies for the private sector.
- Manage relationships between DoD clients and commercial partners to ensure successful program execution.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required:
- Ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI clearance; active TS clearance is preferred.
- 8 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree, or 6 years with a Master's or advanced degree in a scientific or engineering field (e.g., Electrical Engineering, Physics, Computer Science). A business degree with relevant experience may also be considered.
- At least 5 years of experience in research and program support for defense, intelligence, national security, or diplomatic missions.
- Demonstrated experience in supporting prototype projects related to autonomous systems and technologies such as cybersecurity, human systems, and AI/ML.
- Strong understanding of how private industry and the DoD can collaborate to bridge technical capability gaps.
- Experience in rapid-needs assessment processes and the ability to translate problems into fielded systems.
- Proven leadership skills in managing diverse project teams and providing status updates and briefings to stakeholders.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Impeccable character and professionalism.
Desired:
- Prior military experience that enables the candidate to define requirements and curate problems with military end users.
- Experience in leading collaborative teams involving government and commercial vendors to efficiently deliver project milestones.
Compensation
The typical compensation range for this position is $150,000, based on experience, location, and other factors.
