About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Programmer to join our team at InsideHigherEd. As a Data Programmer, you will be responsible for designing and developing innovative software solutions to complex functional problems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop software solutions to meet the needs of our clients, including software releases of the ATra Black Box.
  • Research, develop, and integrate technical designs from the ATra Black Box Chief Research Scientist.
  • Provide technical support to clients and internal stakeholders, including training and documentation.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and prioritize project requirements.
  • Develop and maintain software documentation, including user manuals and technical guides.
Requirements
  • M.S. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent work experience.
  • General knowledge of algorithms development, data structures, database systems, operating systems, computer security, data communications, formal language theory, encryption, and computer programming.
  • Software development experience with Ada, Python, Java, C/C++, Swift, or Rust is important. SAS programming experience is critical.
  • Experience with formal methods, program proof-of-correctness techniques, and/or high-assurance systems development.
  • Excellent speaking and writing skills with good command of computerized word processing, presentation preparation, and desktop publishing.
  • Ability to document and explain technical processes to multiple audiences.
  • Ability to translate quantitative and qualitative findings into narratives for publication and other effective tools to communicate findings to other scientists, funding agencies, and the general public.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work with faculty, collaborators, and stakeholders from a variety of disciplines, organizations, and business sectors.
Preferred Requirements
  • Experience working with subject matter specialists in public health jurisdictions and federal agencies.
  • Proficiency in Ada 2012 computer programming language for a production system.
  • Significant experience in the entire software development lifecycle for a critical production system, including defining requirements for new functionality, implementation, quality assurance, and software maintenance.
Work Environment

This position has been designated as Telework. Please note that work mode designations are regularly reviewed in order to meet the evolving needs of the University.

Compensation

The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position is $54,000 - $100,493.33. Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University's business needs and external factors.
