Position Overview: The CNC Programming Specialist is responsible for operating advanced optical programming equipment to produce numerical control (NC) tape programs essential for managing NC machine tools utilized in various manufacturing processes, including drilling, milling, routing, and notching components.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate technical drawings, specifications, and production control materials to ascertain program input requirements.
  • Digitize full-scale mylars as necessary for program development.
  • Develop 3D models from 2D design data to facilitate accurate machining.
  • Utilize Mastercam to outline machine tool paths, adhering to operational guidelines for tool speed and efficiency.
  • Input supplementary instructions, including tool dimensions, machine feed rates, and starting coordinates.
  • Validate machining paths using CAD systems to ensure precision.
  • Establish manufacturing processes that take into account cutting and holding forces.
  • Design and document work-holding fixtures to optimize production.

Qualifications:

  • Education: An associate degree or equivalent professional experience is required.
  • Mathematical Proficiency: Ability to perform calculations and apply fundamental algebra and geometry principles.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in database management, design, development, and manufacturing software, as well as Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Experience: Familiarity with Mastercam modeling and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Proficient in converting full-scale PCM mylars to AutoCAD and in 3D modeling using AutoCAD.
