Job Summary

The Outpatient Administrative Specialist will perform standardized patient registration, discharge, and communication tasks, including verification of demographics, insurance, and financial information. This role will also generate routine forms and documentation, advise patients on insurance carrier requirements, coordinate incoming and outgoing referrals, and manage denial processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform patient registration, discharge, and communication tasks
  • Verify demographics, insurance, and financial information
  • Generate routine forms and documentation

  • Manage denial processes
  • Assist with scheduling and rescheduling
  • Set up and maintain templates for providers
  • Scan, fax, and distribute mail
  • Prepare monthly reporting activities
Requirements
  • Associate's degree and two years of relevant patient financial/insurance services experience in a healthcare setting
  • Working knowledge of medical terminology and medical coding
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Computer skills and keyboarding
  • Ability to maintain good public relations with patients, visitors, co-workers, and other individuals
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior working experience in ambulatory patient care administrative functions
  • Working knowledge of computer systems such as Epic, Word, and Outlook
