Job Summary:
As a vital member of the healthcare team, Geisinger's Patient Access Representatives (PARs) excel in communication, addressing patient inquiries daily while demonstrating empathy and professionalism to ensure a positive patient experience.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide essential front-line support to the department, coordinating and executing office activities efficiently.
2. Welcome and register incoming patients, assisting with the check-out process and scheduling future appointments as needed.
3. Accurately check in patients for appointments and verify demographic information.
4. Ensure all check-in protocols are followed and monitor patient wait times, updating patients as necessary.
5. Interpret insurance responses and understand guidelines to assign insurance categories correctly.
6. Ensure patients receive required disclosure and privacy information, obtaining necessary legal and financial signatures.
7. Communicate financial responsibilities to patients and collect fees at the time of service as appropriate.
8. Complete necessary regulatory forms with patients and schedule follow-up appointments for additional services.
9. Manage multi-channel messages related to patient and physician requests regarding appointments, referrals, and prescriptions.
10. Notify patients or guarantors of anticipated financial responsibilities, including copays and deductibles, and collect accordingly.
11. Perform cash posting in line with departmental guidelines.
12. Adhere to organizational and HIPAA guidelines, ensuring patient confidentiality and rights are respected.
13. Independently manage work queues to resolve accounts promptly.
14. Maintain productivity and quality performance standards while upholding confidentiality.
15. Accurately manage medical record maintenance and releases.
16. Assist with referrals and pre-certifications during patient encounters.
17. Effectively utilize and maintain patient recall and reschedule lists.
18. Work is typically conducted in an office environment, with accountability for fulfilling job-specific obligations and compliance with organizational policies.

Education:
High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED) - (Required)

Experience:
Minimum of 1 year of related work experience (Preferred)
