Position Overview
The Lead Medical Supply Operations Manager is tasked with the comprehensive oversight and strategic management of the Sterile Processing Services (SPS). This role ensures that all SPS operations adhere to regulatory standards and best practices, while also forecasting and planning for the program's future needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership and direction for all operational and administrative functions within SPS.
  • Oversee the quality management system, including training, competency assessments, and the enforcement of standard operating procedures.
  • Supervise a team of Medical Supply Technicians, ensuring effective performance and development.
  • Adapt and manage workflows to meet evolving program objectives and requirements.
  • Act as a liaison between SPS and other departments to facilitate collaboration.
  • Maintain and manage the SPS Equipment Inventory Listing, ensuring all equipment is accounted for and in good working condition.
  • Participate in and lead various committees related to equipment management, infection control, and patient services.
  • Make executive decisions regarding the procurement of reusable medical devices, ensuring resources are available for reprocessing.
  • Develop and maintain a Quality Control Program to ensure product quality through various monitoring methods.
  • Engage with external regulatory agencies to ensure compliance with established policies and procedures.
  • Facilitate training programs for staff on SPS processes, including reprocessing and inventory management.
  • Coordinate production requirements to meet customer needs effectively.
  • Evaluate project schedules and forecast staffing needs based on workload.
  • Collaborate with Supply Chain Management to monitor inventory levels and address potential shortages.
  • Ensure the safe reprocessing of reusable medical devices to mitigate infection risks.
  • Lead continuous quality improvement initiatives to enhance service delivery.
  • Develop policies that align with infection prevention standards and monitor compliance.
  • Update standard operating procedures in response to changes in manufacturer guidelines.
  • Represent SPS on VISN and national advisory boards, fostering strong relationships with relevant organizations.

Work Schedule
Standard working hours are Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM.

Conditions of Employment
Applicants must be U.S. citizens and may be subject to a background investigation. Proficiency in English is required, and participation in health-related vaccination programs is mandatory.

Qualifications
Applicants should possess relevant experience or education in healthcare-related fields, with a focus on sterile processing and supply management. A minimum of two years in a leadership role within a healthcare setting is preferred.
