The Department of Public Utilities is seeking a dedicated Civil Engineering Specialist II to collaborate with a team of skilled engineers in the evaluation of development initiatives. The ideal candidate will possess the ability to make informed engineering choices based on design standards and regulatory requirements, while effectively communicating with developers, engineers, and contractors to facilitate the successful execution of private development projects. Building and maintaining professional relationships with the community and various municipal departments is essential.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Examine construction plans and calculations related to water and sanitary sewer systems
  • Draft technical review correspondence for developers, engineers, and the community
  • Offer technical support to construction inspectors on engineering matters related to Public Utilities
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support departmental objectives

Qualifications:
Educational Requirement:
A bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a closely related discipline is required.

Experience Requirement:
In addition to meeting the educational standards, this position necessitates a minimum of two years of relevant, full-time equivalent experience.

Certifications and Licenses:
A valid driver's license and a driving record that complies with the City Driving Standards are required. An Engineer-In-Training (EIT) or Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred.

Special Requirements:
Employees may be required to work beyond their standard hours in response to urgent departmental needs or city-wide emergencies.
