Position Summary

We are seeking a proactive Director of Continuous Improvement to spearhead our client's LEAN engineering division. This role is pivotal in executing and managing LEAN practices throughout the organization. Responsibilities include crafting and implementing Kaizen Roadmaps, nurturing a culture of ongoing enhancement, and overseeing cost reduction strategies to meet annual savings objectives. The Director will work closely with plant management to ensure the successful application of LEAN methodologies, perform yearly LEAN evaluations, and support safety and strategic initiatives across the enterprise. Furthermore, this position involves leading training programs in LEAN principles and leadership development. The role encompasses various managerial duties such as mentoring, coaching, and budget management.

Work Location

This position requires onsite presence in the Milwaukee or Detroit area.

Compensation Package

Key Responsibilities

  • Guide a LEAN engineering team in the deployment and supervision of LEAN methodologies across the organization, utilizing tools such as Value Stream Mapping, 6S, and Lean Daily Management in alignment with corporate objectives.
  • Design and manage the execution of Kaizen Roadmaps for all facilities in collaboration with plant leadership, while monitoring outcomes and sustainability.
  • Partner with operations leadership to cultivate a culture of continuous improvement and oversee staff training in LEAN methodologies.
  • Facilitate leadership training and development programs for team enhancement.
  • Drive cost reduction initiatives to meet annual operational savings goals.
  • Conduct annual LEAN assessments at facilities and implement necessary corrective actions.
  • Execute a comprehensive range of managerial responsibilities, including recruitment, mentoring, employee development, task allocation, performance management, and budget oversight.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related business discipline, or equivalent education and experience.
  • A minimum of ten years of experience in multi-site manufacturing, with at least five years focused on LEAN implementation.
  • LEAN certification (e.g., Six Sigma Black Belt) is highly preferred.
  • Strong expertise in LEAN Manufacturing and Engineering principles.
  • Advanced knowledge of LEAN Daily Management, Value Stream Mapping, 6S, and similar methodologies.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in project management and change management.
  • Ability to analyze data effectively and drive actionable outcomes.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Willingness to travel as required.
