Position Overview

ROLE SUMMARY

The Clinical Manager oversees the daily operations of the Telemetry Department, ensuring effective management of human resources while maintaining cost efficiency. This role involves addressing and resolving concerns from patients, visitors, staff, and physicians, while keeping management informed as necessary. The Clinical Manager is expected to adapt to fluctuating workloads, particularly during emergencies, and to guide employees through complex administrative matters. Access to Patient Health Information is strictly for treatment purposes.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead the telemetry staff in delivering exceptional care to telemetry, stroke, and bariatric patients, adhering to interventional cardiology protocols and medication guidelines.
  • Gather and interpret patient information to meet their specific needs.
  • Exhibit a thorough understanding of growth and development across various age groups.
  • Engage in human resource management, including staff evaluation, counseling, and recruitment.
  • Oversee payroll reports and ensure compliance with job performance standards and competencies for all staff members.
  • Conduct timely performance evaluations for annual and probationary assessments.
  • Facilitate the completion and submission of necessary human resource documentation.
  • Manage staff attendance at hospital orientation and mandatory continuing education programs.
  • Participate in nursing leadership meetings, taking responsibility for the quality of nursing administration.
  • Engage in special projects and ensure comprehensive orientation for new employees.
  • Maintain up-to-date records for all employees, including certifications and compliance with competencies.
  • Foster open communication regarding organizational and national healthcare issues.
  • Optimize staffing practices based on established benchmarks and acuity data.
  • Utilize patient classification systems to predict nursing care requirements and document care delivery trends.
  • Support staff development and cross-training initiatives.
  • Contribute to hospital programs such as risk management, safety, and infection control.
  • Manage scheduling and facilitate unit workflow and teamwork.
  • Monitor supply costs and identify areas for cost savings.
  • Stay informed about regulatory requirements and maintain expertise in the specialty field.
  • Assist in the development of departmental strategic plans and integrate performance improvement into daily operations.
  • Communicate effectively with staff and collaborate with other departments to enhance overall hospital objectives.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

  • California RN License (must be maintained)
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • Minimum of 3 years of clinical experience
  • Demonstrated clinical competence and leadership abilities
  • Professional demeanor and effective communication skills
  • Current American Heart Association BLS and ACLS Certification
  • Successful completion of EKG test within the first month of employment
  • NIHSS Certification

Preferred: Previous management experience.
