About the Role

WSP is seeking a Lead Geotechnical Specialist to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will engage in a variety of projects within our Geotechnical & Tunneling National Business Line. You will play a pivotal role in addressing client needs and overcoming engineering challenges.

Your Contributions

As a key member of our team, you will:
  • Oversee and conduct geotechnical investigations and laboratory testing programs for transportation projects.
  • Execute geotechnical analyses and design for both shallow and deep foundations, embankments, and earth retention systems.
  • Perform numerical modeling for intricate underground projects.
  • Draft comprehensive geotechnical reports and memoranda.
  • Develop and implement geotechnical instrumentation and monitoring strategies.
  • Provide design support throughout the construction phase.

Qualifications

To be successful in this position, you should possess:
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
  • 5 to 7 years of pertinent experience in geotechnical and tunneling engineering.
  • Professional Engineer Registration in the relevant state.
  • Strong knowledge and practical experience in geotechnical engineering principles.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • A willingness to travel for fieldwork as necessary.

Preferred Skills

Ideal candidates will also have:
  • A Master’s degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on Geotechnical Engineering.
  • Familiarity with seismic design criteria specific to the Pacific Northwest.
  • Experience with engineering software from recognized developers.
  • Proficiency in MicroStation and GIS applications.
