Position Overview:
Vaco Boston is seeking a dedicated Revenue Accounting Manager to oversee the accounting division at a growing manufacturing organization. This role is pivotal in managing the revenue accounting team, ensuring efficient daily revenue and accounts receivable processes, conducting month-end closures, and establishing robust internal controls.
Key Responsibilities:
- Calculate net revenue for inclusion in monthly and annual financial reports.
- Formulate assumptions and scenarios to project net revenue for annual budgeting and ongoing forecasting.
- Ensure accurate documentation and review of revenue recognition practices.
- Supervise and evaluate the performance of accounting staff, meeting strict monthly deadlines.
- Direct daily accounting functions, prepare and oversee budgets, implement policies, and assess program outcomes.
- Lead the comprehensive internal control (SOX) program for all revenue-related processes.
- Examine standard customer contracts to verify appropriate revenue recognition under ASC 606.
- Collaborate with the technical accounting team to identify contracts necessitating detailed accounting analysis.
- Assist with revenue-related disclosures and the preparation of revenue footnote schedules for SEC filings.
- Analyze discrepancies between budgeted and actual figures, reporting insights accordingly.
- Work alongside various managers and directors to ensure precise departmental expense reporting.
- Contribute to the annual budget preparation for affiliates.
- Engage with auditors to facilitate a smooth and timely year-end audit for all entities.
- Mentor, train, and assess professional and support staff.
- Manage special projects as required.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting is mandatory.
- CPA certification is advantageous but not essential.
- A Master's degree is beneficial but not required.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant accounting experience, including practical knowledge.
- Proficient in advanced Excel functionalities.
- Familiarity with SEC reporting and ASC 606 disclosure standards.
