Ziegler CAT is seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Service Specialist to join our team, focusing on the maintenance and repair of heavy construction machinery. We value a committed individual with strong diagnostic and troubleshooting abilities to enhance customer satisfaction and equipment performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct diagnostics and repairs on a variety of heavy construction machinery, including but not limited to compactors, loaders, excavators, dozers, and haul trucks.
  • Address customer inquiries and service requests promptly and effectively, ensuring high-quality service delivery in the field; a service vehicle, communication device, and necessary tools will be provided.
  • Utilize independent judgment to manage the safe maintenance and repair of equipment, encompassing mechanical, hydraulic, gas, diesel, and electrical systems.
  • Maintain a tidy and secure work environment, adhering to all safety protocols; ensure the service vehicle is kept in a professional condition.
  • Collaborate positively with management and colleagues to meet customer expectations.
  • Assist fellow technicians with troubleshooting and repair tasks as needed.
  • Employ modern communication tools to relay job status and exceed customer needs effectively.
  • Document labor hours, parts utilized, and work performed to facilitate accurate billing and work order closure.
  • Be available for after-hours emergency service calls as directed by management.
  • Identify and communicate inventory needs for parts and supplies.
  • Perform additional duties as required.
Qualifications:
  • Completion of a 2-year technical degree or a high school diploma with substantial relevant experience.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in diesel equipment repair, preferably in a field setting.
  • Proficient knowledge of hydraulic systems, transmissions, undercarriage components, electrical systems, and fuel systems.
  • Ability to diagnose equipment issues independently and interpret schematics effectively.
  • Strong commitment to delivering exceptional customer service with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, along with modern communication and computer proficiency.
  • Capability to maintain a safe and organized work environment.
  • Willingness to respond to emergency service calls outside of regular hours as instructed.
  • Possession of a personal mechanic tool set.
  • Maintaining a clean driving record is essential.
  • Class A CDL or the willingness to obtain one within a specified timeframe.
  • Must obtain a DOT medical certification card.
  • Successful completion of a DOT pre-employment drug screening and physical examination is required.
  • This position is considered safety-sensitive and will require a drug test prior to employment.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to push/pull up to 50 lbs.
  • Capability to lift/carry up to 60 lbs.
  • Ability to lift bulky items.
  • Physical activities include standing, walking, using hands, talking, hearing, neck and trunk rotation, climbing stairs and ladders, bending, kneeling, squatting, reaching overhead, crawling, and handling tools.
  • Work conditions may vary between indoor and outdoor environments, with potential exposure to loud noise levels.
