Job Summary

CommonSpirit Health is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Nursing Operations to join our team. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for planning, designing, implementing, and maintaining programs, policies, and management systems in all facets of patient care administration in assigned departments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the integration of services between departments to ensure patient-centered care needs are met and quality, cost-effective care improvements are achieved.
  • Serve as a behavior role model and promote an awareness and understanding of positive ethical and moral principles.
  • Contribute to the CHI Health mission by being deployable to facilities to assume temporary leadership roles.
  • Seamlessly integrate into local teams to assume nursing leadership roles at the level of director and below (inclusive of manager and supervisor roles).
  • Assign day-to-day work activities; direct the functional and technical job performance of team members.
  • Allocate and direct staffing needs to meet patient, unit, and department needs, and collaborate with others to ensure overall staffing needs are met.
  • Manage performance including: setting goals, clarifying job expectations, monitoring performance progress, providing feedback and recognition, developing skills and addressing performance issues related to work and our Commitments using corrective action.
  • Promote a culture of customer service focused on patients, families, visitors, physicians, other departments, and the community.
  • Establish and maintain cooperative and collaborative relationships with the CHI Health, academic partners, vendors, and Independent Medical Staff.
  • Develop and implement programs and processes to support patient, employee, and physician engagement.
  • Maintain a collegial and cooperative relationship with other ancillary, support, and service line leaders, working as a team to implement efficiencies, economies, and best practices.
  • Demonstrate responsibility for maintaining and updating knowledge/skills in the fields of nursing, health care management, and areas of responsibility.
  • Participate in all safety, security, and infection control programs.
  • Demonstrate work practices consistent with CHI Health and department-specific safety, security, and infection control policies.
Requirements
  • Masters or Master's must be obtained within 2 years.
  • Bachelors or Master's degree must be in nursing.
  • Current RN licensure in the State of Nebraska or Iowa.
  • Certifications (such as BLS, ACLS) will be commensurate with the role assigned and validated at the time of interim assignment by leader.
  • Three years of supervisory experience.
  • Verbal and written communication skills.
  • Delegation, team leadership, critical thinking, conflict resolution, time, and workload management.
