Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Nursing Director to join our team at Wexford Health. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for assisting in the development and implementation of our nursing services program, ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in planning, prioritizing, and developing policies and procedures for healthcare activities that meet contractual requirements and national standards.
  • Coordinate and monitor orientation, in-services, and continuing education within Nursing Services, ensuring that all staff members receive comprehensive training and support.
  • Develop, provide, and evaluate patient care according to the standards of quality care, ensuring that all patients receive the highest level of care and attention.
  • Conduct recruitment and retention efforts for Nursing Services, ensuring that we attract and retain the best talent in the industry.
  • Participate in the development and administration of a budget for Nursing Services, ensuring that we are operating within our means and achieving our financial goals.
  • Participate in Nursing Services committees, such as Utilization Review, Quality Assurance, Infection Control, and others, to develop and implement procedures, audits, and nursing in-services.
  • Receive and review daily outpatient and infirmary reports, ensuring that all patients are receiving the care they need.
  • Conduct regular meetings with nursing staff, ensuring that they are aware of and adhering to current standards and best practices.
  • Be on call for nursing emergencies or staff needs, providing support and guidance as needed.
  • Help develop and maintain staff schedules for Nursing Services, ensuring that we are meeting our contractual obligations and providing adequate coverage.
  • Serve as a representative for and/or liaison between Nursing Services and other healthcare providers, as well as HSA, to coordinate patient care and ensure seamless communication.
  • Provide guidance to nursing staff in patient care problems and follow established protocols, delegating responsibility within the scope of the employee's abilities.
  • Support and participate in evaluations designed to improve work conditions and patient care, ensuring that we are continuously improving and adapting to meet the needs of our patients and staff.
  • Keep abreast of and follow through on incidents occurring on all shifts, ensuring that all incidents are thoroughly investigated and addressed.
  • Review discrepancies in sharps and tool counts, investigate, reconcile, and forward written findings to the Health Services Administrator.
  • Review medication errors and forward written findings to the Health Services Administrator.
  • Prepare and submit monthly reports to the HSA, ensuring that we are meeting our reporting requirements and providing accurate and timely information.
  • Assist in responding to applicable grievances, ensuring that all grievances are thoroughly investigated and addressed.
  • Assess established policies and review policies as needed, ensuring that we are operating in compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.
  • Submit monthly reports of audits, ensuring that we are meeting our audit requirements and providing accurate and timely information.
Requirements
  • Current, unrestricted Nebraska Registered Nurse License.
  • Current CPR Certification.
  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing. Associate's Degree required; Bachelors' Degree preferred.
  • Minimum one to two (1-2) years of clinical, supervisory experience; correctional nursing experience a plus.
