Position Overview
As a Middle School Science Educator at Uncommon, you will collaborate with grade-level teams to equip all students with the essential tools and knowledge to engage critically in the field of science.
Central to our Science curriculum is a passion for the subject and an inquiry-based learning approach, emphasizing student discourse and scientific practices.
Science educators utilize a variety of instructional techniques to ignite a passion for scientific inquiry and analysis among students.
Our educators strive for mastery of the subject matter while being attuned to the socio-emotional transitions that middle school students undergo.
By the end of eighth grade, students will be prepared for the academic independence and college preparatory focus of our high schools.
Key Responsibilities
- Instruction
You will deliver an interdisciplinary, NGSS-aligned curriculum covering essential topics such as Climate and Earth's systems, the cosmos, energy transformations, electricity and magnetism, and ecological systems. - Data Analysis
Engage in weekly meetings with your principal and/or instructional coach to assess and respond to trends in student work and assessments. - School Culture
Build positive relationships with students to ensure they feel valued and heard. Collaborate with families to provide necessary resources to support their child's educational journey.
Qualifications

Required Experience:
A demonstrated interest in impacting K-12 students in urban settings (1-2 years of experience preferred). Academic expertise in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, or related fields. A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution is required prior to employment.

Compensation for this position:
The starting salary for this role is between $50,000 to $64,700, depending on various factors including relevant professional experience, education, certifications, and tenure.
