Job Description

We are seeking dedicated and diverse school leaders and teachers to partner with our Superintendent in moving the district toward its goals. The successful candidate will be a member of our school's staff, performing regular duties associated with a classroom teacher, while also delivering evidence-based reading intervention to groups of students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver targeted literacy intervention to 5 classes of 9th graders daily using evidence-based strategies and resources.
  • Utilize planning tools and instructional resources provided by the department of English Language Arts.
  • Administer and interpret appropriate assessments of various types, including screening, diagnostic, progress monitoring, etc.
  • Maintain and submit accurate and up-to-date records of all students' attendance, intervention integrity, and progress.
Requirements
  • Minimum of three (3) years of teaching experience.
  • Training and/or experience with Culturally Relevant Education (preferred).
  • New York State (appropriate) Teaching Certification (required).
  • Master's degree from an accredited college or university in literacy or related field preferred (required).
Benefits
  • The current starting salary for SCSD Teachers is $53,000.
  • Teachers will have opportunities to teach in our Summer School Programs, receiving an hourly rate of $42.69.
  • Teachers of color or those with experience and a deep background in Urban Education may qualify for the District's Urban Fellowship Program.
