Job Title: Benefits Specialist

At MidFirst Bank, we are seeking a highly skilled Benefits Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for directing and planning the day-to-day operations of group benefits programs, ensuring the accuracy of all benefits enrollments, and providing excellent customer service to employees and managers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure the accuracy of all benefits enrollments in the HRIS to provide vendors with accurate eligibility information.
  • Conduct new-hire onboarding and perform quality checks of benefits-related data.
  • Assist employees regarding benefits claim issues and plan changes.
  • Enroll employees with carriers and process life status changes.
  • Respond to benefits inquiries from managers and employees on plan provisions, benefits enrollments, status changes, and other general inquiries.
  • Manage the open enrollment process and provide necessary reports for allocation/billing charges.
  • Coordinate daily benefits processing, handle enrollments, COBRA, terminations, changes, and gather employee data to complete the processing of monthly billings and the preparation of payments of fees and premiums for all group plans.
  • Provide customer service support to internal customers and develop communication tools to enhance understanding of the company's benefits package.
  • Manage I-9 verifications.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in human resource management or a related field.
  • Three to five years of related benefits or employee benefits administration experience.
  • Computer proficiency and technical aptitude with the ability to use Microsoft products, including PowerPoint, and experience with HRIS and benefits databases.
  • Project and team management/leadership skills and experience.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Effective planning and priority setting, with the ability to manage several complex projects simultaneously while working under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical skills and a thorough knowledge of plan designs.
  • Knowledge of benefits contract language and all pertinent federal and state regulations, filing, and compliance requirements, including the ACA, ERISA, COBRA, FMLA, ADA, Section 125, workers' compensation, Medicare, OBRA, and Social Security and DOL requirements.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
