Job Summary

The Materials Management Technician plays a crucial role in maintaining the day-to-day standardized medical and office supply needs and equipment acquisition for designated facilities. This includes ordering, receiving, inventory control, linen, supply and equipment distribution, repairs, instrument reprocessing and/or infection control.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assists in controlling medical supplies, office supplies, printed materials, linen and small equipment within a Medical Center, Campus or Administrative building.
  • Processes supply and equipment orders to assure the timely receipt of goods and helps to trouble shoot Materials procurement problems within the medical facility.
  • Assists with central reprocessing, sterilization, and infection control processes, including preparing and packaging instruments for sterilization in compliance with accepted Infection Control standards.
  • Works closely with the Supervisor to plan improvements to the procurement and sterilization processes and assists as needed with problem identification and resolution of the Materials functions.
  • Demonstrates responsibility and accountability for continued growth and self-evaluation, identifying own learning needs and participating in educational efforts to meet these needs.
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.
  • Customer service skills and ability to work in a team environment.
  • Preferred qualifications include inventory control and par stocking experience, sterile reprocessing and infection control experience, and familiarity with basic office computer software.
