Job Title: Shift Engineer

Join our team at Rosewood Hotel Group as a Shift Engineer, where you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our luxury hotel's mechanical systems.

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Shift Engineer to join our team. As a Shift Engineer, you will be responsible for the daily maintenance and repair of all building equipment, including HVAC systems, plumbing, electrical systems, and refrigeration units.

You will work closely with the Chief Engineer and the Engineering team to ensure that all systems are functioning properly and efficiently. This will involve performing routine maintenance tasks, troubleshooting and repairing equipment, and ensuring that all safety protocols are followed.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks on all building equipment, including HVAC systems, plumbing, electrical systems, and refrigeration units.
  • Troubleshoot and repair equipment as needed.
  • Ensure that all safety protocols are followed and that all equipment is functioning properly and efficiently.
  • Work closely with the Chief Engineer and the Engineering team to ensure that all systems are functioning properly and efficiently.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Chief Engineer or the Engineering team.
Requirements:
  • Minimum three years' experience in Mechanical, Electrical, HVAC, Kitchen Equipment, Plumbing or Refrigeration for a luxury or ultra-luxury hotel/resort.
  • Education: High school diploma. Engineering certifications preferred in HVAC, plumbing and general maintenance.
  • General Skills: Must be able to perform job functions with attention to detail, speed and accuracy; prioritize, organize and follow-up; be a clear thinker, remaining calm and resolving problems using good judgment; follow directions thoroughly; understand a guest's service needs; work cohesively with co-workers as part of a team; work with minimal supervision; maintain confidentiality of guest information and pertinent hotel data. Able to speak and write in English.
  • Technical Skills: Working knowledge of plumbing codes, electrical codes, national/local fire codes, local mechanical codes, water treatment programs, blue prints and plumbing and wiring schematics, power and hand tools, meters, etc. as it relates to the technical trades, knowledge of all mechanical equipment critical to the operation of the building; prioritize and organize work assignments; maintenance and repair of equipment, troubleshoot and use alternatives in emergency situations, ensure security and confidentiality of all hotel information, interact positively with hotel personnel and provide prompt solutions to problems. Able to push, pull, and lift a minimum of 35 to 40 pounds.
Working Conditions:

This is a part-time position with flexible availability required to include early morning, days, nights, weekends and holidays.

The salary range for this position is $24/hour.

Rosewood Washington DC requires all employees to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, and applicants are required to submit proof of vaccination prior to starting employment.
