Mechanical Systems Engineer

The Mechanical Systems Engineer is tasked with the supervision and upkeep of all mechanical apparatus within our establishment, ensuring peak performance and safety standards are met. This role necessitates a comprehensive understanding of machinery, routine assessments, troubleshooting, and effective repair techniques.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintenance and Operation:
Efficiently operate, maintain, and monitor boilers, HVAC systems, refrigeration units, and other mechanical equipment. Candidates should possess experience in the maintenance and repair of commercial and industrial building systems, including but not limited to chillers, boilers, pumps, control systems, air handlers, cooling towers, heat exchangers, variable air volume systems, and variable frequency drives. Practical knowledge of chiller plant operations and the ability to interpret blueprints, schematics, and specifications is essential. - Routine Inspections:
Conduct regular assessments to detect potential issues, ensuring that equipment operates within established parameters and complies with safety regulations. Respond to service requests by diagnosing problems, identifying causes, and implementing solutions while maintaining accurate documentation through the site’s computerized maintenance management system (CMMS). - Troubleshooting:
Identify and rectify malfunctioning systems and components, determining root causes and applying effective solutions. - Documentation:
Keep meticulous records of all inspections, maintenance tasks, repairs, and replacements, ensuring compliance with organizational standards. - Compliance:
Ensure that all operations adhere to local, state, and federal regulations concerning mechanical equipment operations. - Collaboration:
Work in conjunction with other maintenance, operations, and engineering teams to guarantee seamless operations and prompt resolution of issues. - Emergency Response:
Act as a primary responder during emergencies involving mechanical equipment, implementing safety protocols and addressing issues swiftly. - Continuous Learning:
Stay informed about the latest trends, equipment, and best practices in the field, participating in workshops and training as necessary.
Qualifications / Requirements:
- Preferred: Mechanical Engineer's license.
- Minimum of 12 years of experience in facilities maintenance.
- Familiarity with the operation, maintenance, and repair of boilers, HVAC systems, refrigeration units, etc.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Ability to read and interpret technical documentation, including operational sequences, technical product literature, and specifications.
- Knowledge of mechanical and electrical equipment functions and HVAC control applications.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain necessary security clearances.
